March 27th - April 2nd, 2006
The exhibition entitled Contemporary design of Iceland is organized by Balkankult foundation and the O30NE Gallery in the framework of the manifestation Days of Icelandic culture in Serbia. The opening of the exhibition will take place opened on March 27th at 19h. The craft and design tradition has developed richly in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, thousands of kilometers away from most other countries. The beauty of Icelandic nature is the paramount source of inspiration for most Icelandic designers and craftspeople, which transfer – in a modern and dynamic way – nature’s shapes, colors, and materials to their work. The outcome is often striking artistic expression in creations designed even for everyday use.
The Belgrade audience will see the work of ten artists of the association Kirsuberjatréð from Reykjavik that use different materials in their work such as silk, wool, metal, plastic, salmon skin and of other fish types, pig balder, dry vegetables, etc. One of the authors from Iceland, Ms. Arndís Jóhannsdóttir will open the exhibition in Belgrade. During her visit to Belgrade, the round table on Icelandic design will be organized in the O3ONE Gallery.
The exhibition is supported by Zdravlje Actavis Company, Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of Iceland and Trade Council of Iceland.
