DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY KILOGRAMS OF OLD PAPER HAS TO BE RECYCLED TO SAVE JUST ONE TREE?
In the age of global warming and the destruction of our natural environment, we try to save every tree. To educate children National Geographic Junior is continuing the action HAPPY TREE, which was last year successfully realized in schools in Serbia.
Throughout September 2009 schools in Serbia in cooperation with the National Geographic Junior, had organized a collection of old paper where every pupil was expected to bring a minimum of 1 kg of paper. All funds collected from the sale of old paper were used to improve the conditions of work in schools. Judging by the report the schools have sent out, the list of the most successful ones was made, out of which three Best-Eco Schools will be chosen.
The announcement of the winners and presenting of the awards are going to be on 10th February at O3ONE.
The goal of this action is to educate children about the importance of preservation of the environment and the development of social responsibility skills. Developing relationships with the school and awareness of how they can contribute to improving things.
