On Sunday, September 30th, at 19:30 in the O3ONE Gallery opening of the photo exhibition and film projections made on the journey to the European Capital of Culture, Guimaraes in Portugal. Parobrod, Community of Stari Grad and Youth Office of Stari Grad, has taken 25 young people to an unusual trip through Guimaraes, Braga, and Porto, where the Agency for European Integration. Photos and film are impressions from a trip called “PORTUGALandME“, which brought young people from Belgrade closer to the importance of the European Cultural Capital project.  This is the third year that Parobrod and young people from the Stari Grad are introduced to the project of the European Cultural Capital, and so far over eighty have participated in the project.

On Monday, October 1st, at 12h, also at the O3ONE Gallery, representative of the European Cultural Capital, Guimaraes, Rui Catarino, will present Guimaraes and the programs that this Portuguese city prepared in 2012 during which it shares this prestigious title with Maribor, Slovenia.

The European Capital of Culture was a project originated in 1983 on the initiative of the then Greek Minister of Culture, Melina Merkuri and her French counterpart, Jacques Lang. The first cultural capital was Athens, 1985.
