APPEAL TO MINISTRY OF CULTURE AND INFORMATION:
FILL THE FORMALITIES REQUIRED BY THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION AND ENSURE CULTURE ACCESS IN SERBIA TO EUROPEAN FUNDS
Belgrade, January 22nd, 2014. In November 2013, the European Parliament adopted the Creative Europe Program and a budget of 1.46 billion euros for programs in the field of culture and the media by 2020.
Serbia as a country can apply for part of the funds, but under the condition that the Ministry of Culture and Information fulfills the administrative formalities, and then signs the international agreement with the European Commission.
Despite numerous announcements, the Ministry has so far failed to fulfill this precondition. Competitions for European cooperation projects are in progress, and the deadline for the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia to sign the agreement on January 31st, 2014.
If this deadline is missed, European Commission funding for culture will remain permanently unavailable for institutions, organizations, and individuals from Serbia.
The cultural public of Serbia appeals to the Ministry of Culture and Information to finalize the procedure for the accession of the Republic of Serbia to the “Creative Europe” program and to provide advisory and technical assistance to the cultural and creative sector for participation in the program without any delay.
