« When I observe someone I see past the skin.
Behind it, I look for the ribs, the bones, the architecture of the face.
I scrutinize, I dissect the expressions, the look in the eyes(…)
I use a realistic touch in my paintings to make my model as present as possible.
I want to give the feeling that the model will move, will step out of the painting.
…that we understand his /her mood, his /her personality
I attempt to get close to and to translate, going as far as I can, a part of
his /her soul. «
