Hermetic dictionary of technologies and obsolete modernity of Yugoslav utopia

January 16th - 26th, 2018 > Koče Popovića 9

The exhibition “Hermetic dictionary of technologies and obsolete modernity of Yugoslav utopia” opens on Tuesday, January 16th, at 18h, Pro3or Gallery (Koče Popovića 9), and last until January 26th, 2018.

The result of the authors works in the Heptadecagon collective: Aleksandar Petrović, Aleksandra P. Stevanović, Dimitrije Vujadinović, Dejan Vukelić, Dragan Bulatović, Milan Popadić.

The exhibition is dedicated to the recently re-discovered Vocabulary of Technology as the essential creative feature of the transition period 1979–1982. A dictionary of technology was published in May 1981 and is focused on the consideration of global technological civilization, as well as the utopian character of Yugoslavia. It was written by hand, and its authors were unknown. In January 1982, a secretive working group made a statement on the political forums with the charge against the Dictionary of Technology that led to the fierce media attacks and ostracism of the Dictionary, which has since been punished with the ban and wrapped in a veil of oblivion.

The Dictionary of Technology as the hidden core of Yugoslav utopia which, trough a critique of the technology illusion, merged pre-modern and post-modern culture. The correct Heptadecagon as a symbol of the new academic standard has emerged from this. Its goal is to raise awareness of the takeover of the power of artificial intelligence and the virtual world over life.

Multimedia and multigeneration reactions to its appearance and disappearance will be presented alongside the Dictionary of Technology at the exhibition, as well as a variety of programs, documentary shows, author guides, and workshops.

Dr. Tatjana Pauneska professor at Northwest University of Chicago opens the exhibition and begins a concert with  Svetlana Stojanović Kutlača(harpsichord) under the name Heptadecagon – Dictionary of Technology from Pythagoras to Bach.
