“Plakatiranje” will be part of the exhibition program, which consists of four exhibitions.

“Plakatiranje” is the project of Vizkultura portal, an unrevealed and growing collection of author’s posters which are created by Croatian and regional authors, designers, illustrators, and visual artists. The collection up to this date has 214 creations. The concept of the project “Plakatiranje” is that in an intensive weekly rhythm, the selected author or team of authors design a poster of current social-cultural-artistic themes designed exclusively for this project. From week to week every poster is published in a public space, except on portal Vizkultura – in the window China Europe in Zagreb. The project exists for nearly five years.

The exhibition will include 107 posters from the collection, exactly half of the total number. (Graphic)Designer: Author or universal soldier.

Artworks which are in the collection “Plakatiranje” is the complex of cultural, social, and political posters, sarcastic and ironic everyday comments and professional issues, an authorial opinion of the certain current situation, visual and design “packaged” attitudes and authorial perception of cultural issues, societies, and public spaces or even poetic and personal author thoughts, articulate through the poster form. Techniques in which posters include authorial illustrations and drawings, slogans, opinions and statements elaborated in a typographic strong, various and(or) personal solutions, collage, photographies, photographic montage, and other solutions.

Many authors that participated in the project are famous Croatian and regional artists from the design-art scene and also many young artists, illustrators, graphic designers, painters, and visual artists which through this project gain access for media space and opportunity for self-expression. The project “Plakatiranje” was launched with attent because of the poster as a form of author expression increasingly losses its presence and importance, especially due to new forms of digital presence and online communication. Therefore, through this collection, the poster is revived as the authors “weapon” of communication, verbalization, emphasis, problematization, ridicule, and criticism. Vizkultur collection “Plakatiranje” through own posters archive clearly, boldly, critically engaged, and often in a funny way, describes situations, problems and inevitable topics from cultural-art, social and (inevitable) political scene in Croatia and beyond, creating a precise visual archive of events over the past few years, through the language of designers, visual artists and other authors.
